Bridgwater is a neighbourhood found in Southwest Winnipeg (sometimes known as Waverley West). It is an expansive development that began construction in late 2007 and continues developing. Today it is broken down into four main areas, namely Bridgwater Forest, Bridgwater Lakes, Bridgwater Trails, and Bridgwater Centre with each area offering slightly different types of backgrounds. Bridgwater Forest is surrounded by 25 acres of forest and focuses more on greenery with beautiful lake features. Bridgwater Lakes features three lakes as well as ample greenery and walking paths to navigate. Bridgwater Trails features more renaissance style homes, and additional lakes with a large community fountain/gathering area at its focal point. Bridgwater Centre features a variety of multiple-family type living accommodations combined with shopping/dining/service type offerings. Its goal is to create an ambiance of small town living with big-town amenities. In case you are wondering, no we did not spell Bridgwater wrong. Many think it is spelled as Bridgewater, which is incorrect. The community is named after the late Arthur Bridgwater. If you see it spelled as Bridgewater Winnipeg Real Estate check the source.
Growth of the area continues so there are ample new construction options as well as existing resale homes built from 2008 when the development started. Types of home construction for the most part include two-storey, cab-over, bungalow (including walk-out), however there are custom builders within the area that also will build to a buyer's taste. There are still lakefront, forest backing, or regular building lots. The median price within the neighbourhood was around $450,000 in 2019, however there have been several homes in the past few years that have sold over $1 million, some selling closer to $2 million. Homes here start in the range of $315,000 for an attached-style home (townhouse, or single family attached). There are also a variety of condominium offerings in the area including townhouse units and apartment units. These range in price from $180,000 up to $600,000.
