Linden Woods and Linden Ridge

Linden Woods and Linden Ridge are two picturesque communities in Southwest Winnipeg, separated by McGillivray Boulevard. Together, they boast over 60 acres of lush green spaces, an extensive network of walking paths, interconnected lakes, and elementary schools offering both English and French Immersion programs. This makes them ideal for starting school close to home. These areas are perfect for raising a family, with the added convenience of being just a short drive from all of Winnipeg’s post-secondary institutions.

Linden Woods, developed by Genstar, began construction in 1982. Right next to it lies the newer community of Linden Ridge, which saw its groundbreaking in the early 2000s. Both neighbourhoods predominantly feature residential homes, though some areas toward the south and north serve industrial or commercial purposes. The lot sizes here are generally larger than average, and many substantial homes—often lakefront or adjacent to green spaces—are typical in these neighbourhoods. Most residences are single-detached homes, but you'll also find a mix of semi-detached houses, townhouses, and apartment-style condominiums.

Linden Woods and Linden Ridge fall under the Pembina Trails School Division, hosting two elementary schools. Students on the northern side of Linden Woods attend École Van Walleghem School, offering English programming from Kindergarten through Grade Eight. Meanwhile, children from the southern portion of Linden Wood and Linden Ridge will go to Linden Meadows School for the same grades. The catchment boundaries include Hennessey Drive, Marksbridge Drive, and the Linden Woods Community Centre. For more details or to verify your child's school eligibility, please visit the Pembina Trails School Division website.

High school students seeking English instruction will attend Shaftesbury High School in nearby Tuxedo. École Van Walleghem School also provides French Immersion from Kindergarten through Grade Eight and serves both communities. Their French Immersion high school option is in Charleswood at École Secondaire Oak Park High School, approximately a 15-minute drive away.

It is also worth noting the proximity of several private school options to this community.  Linden Christian, St. John’s Ravenscourt, St Mary’s Academy, St Paul’s High School are all a short drive away.

For higher education, all of Winnipeg’s post-secondary institutions are less than a 25-minute drive away. Notably, the Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology is conveniently located just beyond the neighbourhood border. Canadian Mennonite University and the University of Manitoba's Fort Garry Campus are a mere 10-minute drive. The Université de Saint-Boniface, the University of Winnipeg, the University of Manitoba’s Bannatyne Campus, and all Red River College campuses are within an additional 10-minute drive.

Both neighbourhoods also boast walk-in clinics, and the Sterling Lyon Business Park hosts several private medical centers, including the Western Surgery Centre. The nearest hospital, Victoria General Hospital, is situated on Pembina Highway.

Linden Woods and Linden Ridge are dynamic neighbourhoods, housing a mix of residential, industrial, and commercial real estate. Along Kenaston Boulevard, you'll find a plethora of retail options. These centers are home to a variety of stores such as Safeway, Walmart, Sobeys, The Home Depot, Rona, Canadian Tire, The Brick, and Marshalls, along with numerous restaurants and much more. Additionally, a Costco is located on McGillivray Boulevard.

Linden Woods Market, situated along Waverley Boulevard, is a strip mall predominantly featuring restaurants and service-oriented businesses.

Sterling Lyon Parkway offers further variety with two major commercial developments: Seasons of Tuxedo and the Outlet Mall, which include notable retailers like Ikea, Cabela’s, and a Red River Co-op Food Store, among others. If that’s not enough, Grant Park Shopping Centre is just a ten-minute commute away, hosting additional retailers such as Canadian Tire, McNally Robinson, Winners, and a Red River Co-op Food Store.

Linden Woods is home to eight parks, three of which are conveniently located between the elementary schools. These parks are connected by meandering walking and biking paths that wind around and over scenic lakes adorned with beautiful fountains.

Crossing the bridge, you'll find Linden Woods Park, an ideal spot for reading or simply enjoying the lake views. A second bridge takes you to Muys Park, the community’s second largest green area, offering two soccer fields, a playground, walking paths, a picnic shelter, and a sliding hill for winter fun.

Kleysen Park boasts three soccer fields, a playground, and a spray pad. Adjacent to the park, the Linden Woods Community Centre serves both Linden Woods and Linden Ridge, featuring an additional soccer field, two tennis courts, and two outdoor hockey rinks. In the summer, one rink is transformed into a basketball court, and the other provides four pickleball courts. The Community Centre also includes an indoor gym and a multipurpose room available for private rentals, offering year-round programs such as soccer, basketball, pickleball, badminton, volleyball, summer camps, martial arts, and exercise classes.

Linden Ridge boasts two parks on opposite sides of its lake. Dovercourt Park, the smaller of the two, features benches perfect for enjoying the lakeside view. Linden Ridge Park, the larger park, includes a playground and a soccer field.
