Niverville is one of the fastest growing communities in Canada. It started as the Rural Municipality of Hanover, became a village in 1969, then grew into a town with 1530 residents in 1991. According to the 2021 Census, Niverville is now home to 5947 residents and this number continues to rise. But why is it so popular, you ask? This family-friendly community has developed to offer all conveniences a growing family might need (groceries, restaurants, fast food options, care homes, etc.), while offering schools of all levels, parks, and even a golf course! It is also just a short minute drive from Winnipeg making it easy to access big city amenities while still enjoying the benefit of living in a close-knit, smaller town atmosphere.
Niverville offers affordable living from single-detached homes to multifamily housing. There are a wide variety of housing style options to choose from. There are great starter homes, often smaller bungalows built in the 50’s and 60’s, but there has also been a great deal of new development within the area to accommodate demand for the population explosion. Today, the area is comprised mainly of bungalows, two-storeys, bi-levels, townhouses, duplexes and apartment-style condominiums.
Niverville is within the Hanover School Division but children in Niverville may also be allowed to attend schools within the Seine River School Division, Red River Valley School Division or even the Division Scolaire Franco-Manitobaine (DSFM).
Niverville Elementary School is a Kindergarten to Grade Four English only school. Students will complete their Grade Five to Grade Eight studies at Niverville Middle School. In 2019, Niverville finished the high school which allowed students to stay in town to finish their high school diploma. Niverville High School offers English programming from Grade Nine to Grade Twelve.
Students wishing to enroll in French programming can attend schools in Ile des Chênes or Saint Adolphe. École Ile des Chênes School is a dual track, French Immersion and English school from Kindergarten to Grade Eight within the Seine River School Division.
Ecole St Adolphe School is a Kindergarten to Grade Eight dual track school offering English and French Immersion Program. It is a six-day cycle school.
Bussing is also available for children wishing to enroll at École Héritage Immersion in St-Pierre-Jolys, which is a Kindergarten to Grade Eight, English and French Immersion school within the Red River Valley School Division.
Ecole St Norbert Collegiate, in St Norbert Winnipeg, accepts students that have completed their studies at St. Adolphe School.
Students who are eligible to attend DSFM programs can go to École/Collège Régional Gabrielle-Roy, which is a Nursery to Grade Twelve French School in Île-des-Chênes.

Providence University College & Theological Seminary is Canada’s leading Christian university located in Otterburne, Manitoba. It offers programs in aviation, biblical studies, business administration, church ministries, communications and media, biology, health science and so much more. Providence is about a 12-minute drive from Niverville.
Eastman Education Centre is home to the Red River College Polytechnic’s Steinbach Campus. It offers diploma and degree programs in Business Administration, Accounting and Management, Early Childhood Education and Health Care. The College is about a 25-minute commute from Niverville.
The University of Manitoba Fort Garry Campus is approximately a half hour drive from Niverville, in East Fort Garry, Winnipeg.
Niverville houses a Primary Care facility. Open Health Niverville offers infant and childcare, mental health, diagnostic, women’s, public and travel health services. This clinic is collaborating with many different Southern Health-Santé Sud professionals.
Bethesda Regional Health Centre, formerly Bethesda Hospital is located in Steinbach and it is the closest urgent care facility. Ste Anne Hospital is a slightly further from the community but still within close proximity in Ste Anne.
Centre Médico-Social De Salaberry District Health Centre is a 14-bed hospital adjoining to a 22-bed personal care home in St Pierre-Jolys. It is a bilingual facility that provides emergency services in English and French and is a 15 minute drive from Niverville. Victoria General Hospital is the largest healthcare facility, it is in Fort Richmond, Winnipeg and is about a 30-minute drive away.
There are no big chain stores in Niverville, but the town is home to Your Grocery People Niverville, which is a supermarket with fresh fruit, vegetables and everything for your daily needs.
Niverville Heritage Centre hosts Farmers’ Markets with fresh produce and Makers’ Markets with handmade items.
The neighbouring community of New Bothwell has locally owned specialty stores, such as Country Style Meats and New Bothwell Cheese.
Other options are a little bit further, but still within a 20–30-minute drive. St Norbert, in Winnipeg, offers a Co-op Supermarket, and Le Marché St Norbert Farmers’ Market. The market is open Saturdays all year around, and Saturdays and Wednesdays in the summer.
More variety can be found in two malls that are a 25-minute drive from Niverville. St Vital Centre is located at the corner of St Mary’s Road and Abinojii Mikanah (formerly Bishop Grandin Blvd), in Winnipeg. It offers big box stores such as Walmart, Old Navy, Sportcheck, Hudson Bay and Zellers, Marshalls and HomeSense, Indigo, smaller retailers, restaurants, services and so much more.
Clearspring Centre is located on the Provincial Trunk Highway in Steinbach. This Mall consists of stores like Sobey’s, Winners, Walmart, Sport Check, Mark’s, Staples, restaurants, services and plenty more. There is also a Real Canadian Superstore and a Canadian Tire close to this mall.
The Town of Niverville provides plenty of greenspaces for residents to enjoy the outdoors.
Hespeler Park is the largest park in the community. It offers a zipline, five baseball diamonds, paved walking paths, exercise equipment, a brand-new playground that represents the town’s history, a spray park, picnic shelters, numerous soccer pitches, beach volleyball and a bike skills park in the northwest corner. This park is also part of the Crow Wing Trail, which is a 200-km trail with ten access points. This trail is the longest segment of the Trans Canada Trail in Manitoba. It runs between Emmerson and Winnipeg.
Niverville consists of six accessible, smaller parks that the township calls “pocket parks”. Third Street North Tot Park and Breckenridge Tot Park are small playgrounds for toddlers. JR Park is a memorial park dedicated to James JR Schapansky for his contributions to the progressive growth of the community. Edelweiss Park is a large open field surrounded by the homes on Edelweiss Crescent.
Opa’s Park consists of a basketball court and green space. Hampton Park offers a playground and an Amphitheatre and Claremont Park also includes a playground. These parks connect with walking paths that run along the man-made lakes.
There are additional greenspaces within the community, too. Highlands Park is located on Krahn Road and home to a natural playground. There is also an off-leash dog park for your four-legged family members on Arena Road. Adjacent to the dog park is the Niverville Centennial Arena which houses an indoor ice surface for hockey and ringette, an outdoor rink in the winter and the South End Multipurpose Room.
Since 2021, the Arena has shared the parking lot with The Community Resource & Recreation Centre. This complex consists of an arena, the AMF Fieldhouse, an indoor multi-storey playground, multi-purpose rooms, a three-lane running and walking track, a community kitchen, and a link corridor to the Niverville High School. The AMF Fieldhouse is available for a wide range of sport activities such as volleyball, basketball, pickleball, badminton, dodgeball, futsal, gymnastics and so much more. The Centre is also home to the Niverville Nighthawks, a Junior ‘A’ Ice Hockey Team playing in the MJHL.
Also within the community is the Niverville Curling Club and a community garden. The curling club is one of the few in Manitoba with natural ice.
The teen drop-in centre is a safe place for local youth to spend some time together. It is located next to the supermarket and includes the Niverville Skatepark.
In 2017, the town’s sport facility options expanded with the Old Drovers Run Golf Course. It is a 9-hole, link-style fairway with ponds. There are many beautiful, new construction homes being built along some of its fairways and greens.

The Niverville Olde Tyme Country Fair is an annual street fair that began in 1996. It is a popular June attraction for locals and neighbouring communities. There are plenty of carnival foods, rides, dancing, country and rock bands during this fun filled weekend. They’ve had many headliners such as Aaron Pritchett, Brett Kissel among other Juno Award winners!
There is a ton of great entertainment surrounding Niverville, too. If fishing is of interest, the Mennonite Memorial Landing Site is a great spot to catch a fish. The monuments that commemorate the arrival of the first Mennonite settlers is situated at the confluence of the Red River and Rat River. If you are a paddler, this is great spot to access and explore the Rat River.
Splatters Paintball Park is Manitoba’s largest paintball facility with six unique playing fields in New Bothwell Manitoba. The Park consists of group firepit areas, kids’ playground, beach volleyball courts, a Golf Driving Range and an indoor staging arena.
A Maze in Corn is a unique attraction in St Adolphe. From mid-August to late October this farm offers a variety of entertainment such as a corn maze, petting zoo, hay and pony rides, pumpkin barn, zip-lines, summer day camps, a haunted forest and the Sunflower Expo. It is an 8-acre sunflower field with walking paths. From January, the amusement farm is home to the World’s Largest Snow Maze, a Snow Mountain, bonfire pits, a snow bar and a huge toboggan run.
Niverville is a fast-growing family-friendly community. It offers everything you need from parks, pathways, schools, recreational and health care facilities. It is conveniently close to Winnipeg, making a daily work commute relatively easy. However, the town itself offers job opportunities as it includes the Niverville Business Park that currently consists of 18 businesses. The Business Park will soon be home to Jette Studios, a multi-million-dollar film and television studio that will provide employment for locals and the surrounding areas. Also in development is the Blue Crescent Hotel, that broke ground in March, 2023.
